Through a long and comlicated process, Nolinoideae, formerly named Ruscaceae, became a sub-family of Asparagaceae. Because this site is not set up to handle sub-families in any other way, Nolinoideae is listed as a Family.
Maianthemum may be found in older books as Smilacina, a member of the Lily family. From there, it went to Convallariaceae, and became Maianthemum. Then, Maianthemum moved to the Asparagaceae, from whcih it shifted to its current location. For more information, please go tho this link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maianthemum
