These beautiful plants come in colors from creamy white to purple, depending on where you are, and what elevation. Paintbrush is parasitic on roots of grasses, and its bright red "petals" are bracts. I have just been informed that they may have been reclassified into the Orobanchaceae (Broomrape) Family. Stay tuned!
