Hypericum perforatum (St. John's Wort)

St. John's Wort has been responsible for extreme losses of livestock. The plant causes photosensitization, and animals die of starvation, after suffering blindness and losing the ability to eat. Also medicinal, St. John's Wort is used to treat mood disorders. As of January 2018, APG IV has placed Family Hypricaceae in Order Malphigiales.

In addition to the black dots on the edges of its petals, St. John's Wort also has translucent dots on its leaves.
