Order Fagales, Family Betulaceae, Genus Betula
River birch grows in the wetter areas up here. It is technically a shrub, but I have linked it to both shrubs and trees. Betula fontinalis is its synonym. Wikipedia and Southwest Colorado Wildflowrrs have more information.
