Oxytropis sericea x lambertii (Locoweed)

Order Fabales, Family Fabaceae, Genus Oxytropis

This gorgeous plant grows along West Magnolia, and over in Gilpin County near the Community Center. O. sericea has white flowers, but it hybridizes with O. lambertii to produce an amazing range of colors, from white to lavender to blue. Like all Locoweeds, it is toxic to livestock, containing Swainsonine, an alkaloid that has neuroligical affects. I have posted links to O. sericeaa because I couldn't find anything specific on the hybrid I show here. Go to Wikipedia and iNaturalist for more information.
